New Garlic Beds Planted!

10/22/2013

Picture

A picture of the layering technique we used this year to plant our garlic. Add garlic to lots of great dirt and top with leaf and grass mulch to keep them nice and warm and in the summer of 2014 we will have great heads of garlic for sale at the Farm Store!

One long bed of garlic! It is so much fun to get the garden ready for the next planting season! So exciting to thing about all the lovely heads of garlic! Grow garlic, grow!

Planting Note:
We tilled our first sheep manure into the soil this year, it is very exciting to have ready to use fertilizer. Then 1" of compost and a blanket of leaves. Leaves are the best weed blocker, worms love them and you just till them in when your done. Leaf mulch also has excellent water retention nature does it the best.
