6/21/2011 Our Onion Bed!We are very proud of our onion bed this year. The key: intensive weeding! Again with the weeding- for onions to thrive, the bed must be weeded! Great! More bending over or kneeling to pinch off all of the little weeds before their roots get so entangled with the onions bulbs that when you weed you pull out your baby onion bulb! Mulching with straw helps, but is not 100% weed proof. Good old hand weeding is the only way to go! We can safely say that we will get many more onions this year than last, and hopefully they will be quite a bit larger! Next year, we would like to tackle a garlic bed- we just have to get it together this fall to plant them! Stay tuned for more Vegetable Pics! Comments are closed.
